The physical volcanology group at LDEO, lead by Prof. Einat Lev, seeks to understand the physical processes influencing the impact of volcanic eruptions. The group uses numerical modeling, lab experiments, and field observations to study, for example, how lava flows are emplaced, how lava domes destabilize, and what are the physical properties of magma and lava.
