HAWAI'I
The islands of Hawai`i are a heaven for volcanologists.
Our group works closely with the USGS Hawai'i Volcano Observatory to understand lava and magma dynamics on the Big Island of Hawai'i, where volcanic eruption have continuously affected the life of the island's inhabitants for centuries. We traveled to Hawai'i to observe the active lava lake at KÄ«lauea's summit and to document and measure the influence of lava flows on local communities.
